Roseland Class of 2026 celebrate exam success
After hundreds of hours of lessons, targeted support, Champions Hours, weekend revision sessions and holiday revision, the Class of 2026 at The Roseland Academy have finally received their GCSE results. The cohort have once again achieved results above the national average, reflecting the hard work and commitment of students and staff throughout their courses.
There were plenty of smiles, hugs and celebrations at the school this morning as students collected the results that will determine their next steps, with the cohort going on to a wide range of destinations including Truro College, Callywith College, Duchy College, St Austell College, apprenticeships, further training and employment.
For many students, today represents the culmination of an enormous amount of hard work. While every student’s journey has been different, there have been some exceptional individual achievements, including from students who have overcome significant barriers to secure the grades they needed for the next stage of their education.
Among the year group’s highest achievers were Reuben, who achieved an outstanding six Grade 9s, two Grade 8s and three Grade 7s; George, with five Grade 9s, a Grade 8 and three Grade 7s; Daniel, with three Grade 9s, four Grade 8s, three Grade 7s and a Grade 6; Ysella, with two Grade 9s, four Grade 8s and four Grade 7s; and Isabelle, who achieved a Grade 9, two Grade 8s and three Grade 7s. Other students achieving some of the highest point scores across the year group included Archie, Ben, Eleanor, Olly, Max, Oscar, Pippa and Rufus.
There are some exciting further education destinations ahead for the Class of 2026 with Oscar continuing his education at Exeter College of Maths, Ted is off to Bristol to join the American Football Academy and Seb is heading to Hartpury College to to focus on his rugby development.
Headteacher Richard Clarke said: “Today is about celebrating what these young people have achieved and recognising just how much work has gone into getting them here."
“We know that every student has had a different journey through Year 11. For some, achieving exceptional grades has been the result of extraordinary academic commitment; for others, achieving the grades they needed to move on to their chosen destination represents a huge personal achievement."
“I am immensely proud of the Class of 2026. They have shown determination and resilience, and I hope they recognise today just how much they have achieved.”
Emma Atkins-Gammons, Learning Leader for Year 11, said:
“It has been a real privilege to work with this year group. We have seen students face challenges throughout their secondary education and continue to push themselves, accept support and keep going when things have been difficult.
Mr Clarke added:
“We wish every member of the Class of 2026 a fantastic rest of their summer and every success for the future. They should be incredibly proud of what they have achieved and we hope that they look back on their time at The Roseland with pride and fondness.”
