Attendance

Under the Weather form - link

We understand that early morning decisions can be tricky. Sometimes your child isn't quite their usual self, but you aren't sure if they are truly unwell or if they might perk up as the day goes on. It’s a common dilemma, and we want to help take that weight off your shoulders.

To give you peace of mind, we are trialing a new initiative designed to keep us all connected. If your child is feeling a little 'under the weather' but is well enough to try a day at school, you can now let us know quickly and easily.

How it works

  • Simple Notification: Fill out the short form to let us know what’s going on.
  • Extra Care: Our reception team will be alerted to keep a gentle eye on your child throughout the day.
  • Proactive Communication: If your child feels worse or visits the medical room, we’ll already have the context we need. We will call you immediately to discuss the best next steps together.

Our goal is to ensure your child feels cared for and that you feel confident sending them into school knowing we are ready to support them. As this is a new trial, we would love to hear how it works for you and welcome any feedback you have. Please feel free to contact me at smcgreal@theroseland.co.uk.

Attendance

For a student to reach their full educational potential, a high level of school attendance is essential. We consistently work towards a goal of 100% attendance for all students, however, we do accept that illness is inevitable occasionally. We ask that medical appointments are arranged for outside of school hours. Where this is not possible, parents are requested to opt for appointment times either at the start or end of the day so students do not miss a whole day of school. Parents must collect children from the school Reception as students are not permitted to leave the premises during the day unaccompanied.

Registration is taken at 8.45am. If a student is absent, their parent must make the school aware of the reason by 9.15am and provide any further information that the school needs. If no message has been received by 9.30am the school will phone or text the student’s parent for confirmation of absence and reason. Parents can make the school aware of absence via a letter, telephone call, email (enquiries@theroseland.co.uk) or by visiting the school Reception.

At The Roseland Academy, we believe that every day matters and this is supported by result outcomes. Instilling attendance routines from the start of secondary school ensures consistency in academic performance throughout The Roseland and will reflect in GCSE results.
