Roseland Festival 2016 Fund Art Transition Project

roseland_festival_2016We are delighted to announce that we have been granted nearly £1000 by the Roseland Festival to fund a new and exciting Art project for The Roseland Academy and partner primaries, due to take place next academic year 2015/16.

While some of the finer details have yet to be finalised, we envisage working with all nine partner primaries in a series of art workshops leading to a public exhibition of the resulting pieces of work in Spring 2016. The theme is “A Sense of Place” to celebrate our beautiful natural surroundings and Cornish heritage. In practical terms we aim to collaborate with a local artist, who will be the lead practitioner for the project, and we also plan to send specialist Roseland staff and some of our secondary students into individual primary schools to work alongside primary staff and pupils.

We are very grateful to our generous sponsors and thrilled that the project will form part of the wider Roseland Festival programme of events which will take place between 23rd April and 7th May 2016, further details to be released soon – watch this space!

Samba de Roselando at Mevagissey Feast Week

feast_week_mevaOur college samba band, Samba de Roselando, gave another fantastic performance in the Mevagissey Fish Parade on Sunday 28th June at the start of this year’s Feast Week celebrations! This year our drummers were joined by a lively team of Year 8 samba dancers led by Music Teacher Bethany Wade. Roseland staff and students entertained the crowd in style as the harbour town was filled with the sound of Brazilian drums and our dancers’ colourful streamers – well done to all those who took part and made the day such a great occasion
