The Role of the Tutor
At The Roseland Academy we are committed and passionate about developing students’ Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural (SMSC) awareness and our form tutors are central to this.
They have an overview of our student’s progress and behaviour across the school and are the first point of contact to deliver praise but also support if any issues arise.
In addition to delivering our important weekly tutor routines, overseen by our Learning Leaders, our form tutors also deliver our Personal, Social & Health Education programme during allocated tutor time sessions through the year.
Respect for each other
Each person at The Roseland Academy is respected and valued equally without regard to ability, gender, faith, heritage or race or any other characteristic.
Our curriculum and ethos helps all students to find out about themselves and others, helping them to understand their place in the world. We place great emphasis on providing encounters and participation in events and celebrations to broaden all students’ experiences and awareness of others.
We strongly believe that respect for different faiths and beliefs is best gained through knowledge and understanding of lifestyles that are different to our own. This is delivered through our curriculum as well as the routines of daily life as we strive to not only learn about but also demonstrate tolerance, and help students to become knowledgeable and understanding individuals.
