To Parent(s) / Carer(s) of
Students in Year 9 at The Roseland Academy
Dear Parent(s) / Carer(s)
Year 9 Options 2018
As you will recall, in March we started the Key Stage 4 options process with our Year 9 students when we released the initial ‘straw poll’ forms. This process will culminate this half term when students make their final choices for the courses they will take at GCSE or BTEC level when they start Year 10 in September.
You are warmly invited to attend the next stage of the process, our Key Stage 4 options evening on Thursday 26 April at 6:30pm. Parents and students will have the opportunity to discuss GCSE/BTEC option courses in detail with subject teachers. We strongly recommend that all students attend this event with their parent(s)/carer(s). On the evening, we will also release our options booklet which outlines the curriculum structure in Key Stage 4, gives advice on how to make the right choices and provides information about the content of each course.
Following the options evening, the final options form will be released to students on the morning of Friday 27 April. The final deadline for handing in completed options forms will be two weeks later, Friday 11 May.
It is anticipated that students’ options choices will be confirmed before the May half term.
Prior to the deadline for the Options Form, Year 9 teacher reports will be published on Monday 23 April and there will be a further opportunity to meet staff at the Year 9 Parents’ Evening on Tuesday 8 May 4.00-6:30pm. A letter detailing how to book appointments through the online system will be given to students prior to the evening.
If you have any questions or queries about the process please do not hesitate to contact me via email, email@example.com. I will also be available throughout the Options Evening.
